Where did the time go???

Sorry I didn't post yesterday - I had really good intentions - honest I did!!! But then the next thing I know -it was time to leave the house (hubby's boss was promoted yesterday to Full Bird Col). So we had to go over to the ceremony site and set up (hubby was the announcer for the event). Then we had the event (It went really well). And then we had to take everything down.... and then the next thing you know - it was time for the after party.... and party those boys did..... (I was DD of course)

Next thing I know - it is 1:30 AM and I was JUST GETTING HOME!!!! Sheessshhhhhh!!!

Weather update here - Hanna - well thank the Lord - Hanna dropped off a little wind and a little rain - and that was it..... It really was nothing at all!!!

So all eyes are on Ike right now....... will keep you posted!!!

Can't believe I am going....

... to go there!!!

Well today is going to be an interesting day here at Beloved Keepsakes Blog Spot... we have lots to talk about!!!

First up is a weather check.... Looks like TS Storm Hanna may do nothing but churn up the seas to the west of us!! (Whew!) Local officials stated that residents in my area can expect slightly higher tides, 2 to 4 inches of rain, and the possibility of 25 to 35 mph wind with gusts reaching 45 mph Friday evening.

So that is the good news..... Now the bad news is that we have Hurricane Ike - CAT 4 churning out there - and I have to tell you - it might be pretty iffy on him! Even if he was to take the same path that Hanna is taking - we would get a world of hurting from him cause he is a big bad storm!

I got pretty tickled at the "officials conference" this morning.... especially from a quote made by Congressmen Jack Kingston. He was quoted saying, “We’re only half way through the season and half way through the alphabet, we’ve got a long way to go.” So I will keep you posted!!!

Now on to the REAL subject of this blog post. You know my momma always told me there are three things you should never talk about with people... 1) their kids, 2) their religion, 3) their political beliefs.....

Well I never was very good at listening to my momma!! (Bahahaha!!!)

First and for most - one of the great thing about having a blog is... it is yours - you can write whatever you want to - about whatever you want to!!!! LOL (So all you haters out there - please keep that in mind. I mean this is my blog!!! LOL)

Second - I am a staunch Republican through and through! (Of course you probably already knew that - I mean - HEY I am a military wife!!!!) So now that you know that..... here we go!!!

I am a McCain fan. I voted for him during the Republican Candidate election - and I was planning on voting for him during the Presidential Elections. Then he named Palin as his Vice President choice..... Well, I have done a lot of research on Palin.... and last night hubby and I watched the Republican Convention - I really wanted to hear her speech..... and decide just for myself what I thought about her.

And can I just say....

The HECK with McCain - Let's vote PALIN for PRESIDENT!!!!

If you did not see the Palin acceptance speech last night - you can catch it here! It is 36 min long and I have to tell you it is really is worth watching (and make sure you watch for Palin's youngest daughter (Piper) fixing her baby son's (Trig) hair!! Hubby and I about peed in our pants laughing at that shot!!! There is no way that the world can not be endeared to that little girl and her little brother (who, oh by the way, has downs syndrome.)

Anyway... needless to say - the McCain/Palin team is the team for me.... and it got me to thinking that the 2008 Election will be an election that make history - no matter which side of the debate you are on.....

I mean you have Barack Hussein Obama (should he get elected) will be the first African American President. And then you have Sarah Palin to will be the first Women Vice President.... what a year!!! (Did you catch that phrase - WILL BE!!! Bahahahaha!!!)

So to celebrate the upcoming elections - and maybe even to remind you to get out there and VOTE...... I thought I would offer up the TRS File for you today!

This file will only be available for a limited time - once it is no longer available here - you will be able to purchase it at Paperthreads!

This would make a REALLY cute scrapbooking title to help document this monumental year.... No matter where your loyalties lie!! LOL

Sorry - file is no longer available for free download. You will be able to purchase it Paperthreads soon!

Well - I think that is it.... sorry to make you listen to my political views - but I hope the free TRS file will make up for it!!!

Until Next Time!

Lovely weather......

We are having really lovely weather . I mean the temperature is in the high 80's - the humidity - well it is high - but it is ALWAYS high in South GA - and the wind is lightly blowing...... Just lovely - for RIGHT NOW!!!

Yep ladies and gentlemen - that is three storms a brewing and heading our way......

You have Hurricane Hanna, Soon to be Hurricane Ike - and let me introduce our newest player - TS Storm (soon to be hurricane) Josephine!

Needless to say - I think I have become storm obsess! LOL But hey with three possible hurricanes knocking on my door - I feel I have a right to be!!!

So here at the McDonald resident - we are making our plan, getting ready and waiting and watching!!!

I'll keep you posted on how it goes!!!

Until Next Time!

Cya~

PS - For the next few days - I think I will play a little Hurricane Trivia for you- and for the first person to answer the question correctly (by leaving a comment in the comment section) - you get to choose a file from Paperthreads (not to include collections) or an item from Beloved Keepsakes (not to include paper) for free as your prize!!!

Hurricanes are named to allow easy exchange of detailed storm info between hundreds of widely scattered stations, coastal bases, and ships at sea. The naming of the storms comes from a list that has one name for each letter of the alphabet EXCEPT these FIVE letters.... What five letters are not used in naming hurricanes???

Good Luck!!!

Cutting it short....

Hope everyone is having a GREAT holiday weekend!!! Whoo Hooo... Looks like we might have to cut ours short!!

I had a GREAT Time at the family reunion! One of the things they do every year is play "Dirty Christmas". This is the game where you get to pick a number and based on your number - you get to take a turn to pick a wrapped gift off the table - or you can steal a gift from someone who went before you.... needless to say it is always fun to "steal" gifts and see what gifts that are "stolen" the most!!!!

For my present I added to the table - I made a two page premade scrapbooking layout - so that all the recipient had to do was add their photos!!

I am happy to report that the winner of my gift was a scrapbooker and she was VERY excited to get it!!! (If you click on the photo you can get a bigger picture)

Oh - back to my title of my post - Looks like TS Hannah (soon to be hurricane Hannah) is predicted to head - uh = straight for us!!! (yeah that pink arrow is point right at where my house is!!)

So I think we are going cut our weekend short and take tomorrow to finish up getting our hurricane shutters ready, making a plan, buying batteries and water!!! Fun Fun!!!

Needless to say we will be keeping a close watch on that one!!! I think we are expecting some feeder bands (aka wind and rain) from Gustav but that should be it!!!

So as they say in the Army - it is time to "bunker down"!!!

Until Next Time!
