*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Today is "National Day of Prayer". And I have to say I find it amazing that you never really hear much about today's holiday... According to Wikipedia, The National Day of Prayer is a day designated by the United States Congress as a day when people are asked to come together and pray, especially for their country.

As you all know I have a husband who is currently a deployed soldier overseas. According to the news (as he doesn't tell me, nor have I heard from him for a few days), things are not looking too great where he is right now. Things are "heating" up as they say. So I personally am grateful that our leaders have decided we should pray for our country.

Most people say - I don't know what to pray for.... so here you go! This makes it all very simple! There are seven days a week - and seven things to pray for... one for each day of the week!

Day one - pray for our Government: for our leaders both Federal and State. (It really doesn't matter if you voted on them or not, they are leading our county.)

Day two - pray for our Military: We have troops who are actively serving our country each day not only at bases around the world, but also here within our borders. Our soldiers and service members daily place themselves in harm's way in order to defend the way of life. Don't forget their families. The ones who are left behind to deal with the normal day to day life but at the same time have the constant struggle of worrying about their loved one serving our county. Additional, please don't forget the families that have lost a loved one in battle. These grieving families have paid the ultimate price.

Day three - pray for the Media: The media is unquestionably one of the most powerful and influential voices in our culture. Between hoping for un-bias reports, to actors and actress, to the role models that our children emulate. Make sure that you pray for them.

Day four - pray for Business: with the economy, and all the dishonest business leaders our business need your prayers.

Day five - pray for Education: Between violence in schools, and un-ethical teachers schools are one of the most influential places that our children attend. Make sure you pray for dedicated educators who will commit themselves not only to an honest, accurate presentation of all subject matter, but who will also serve as positive role models for their students.

Day six - pray for our Churches: While most of us associate the word "church" with our locale of worship, Scripture actually states that the Church, ultimately, refers to the body of Christian believers around the world. In today's culture there are so many things that can lead Christians astray. Make sure you pray for the leaders, Pastors of the Churches that they guide and direct the Lord's words, beliefs and values.

Day seven - pray for our families: No institution is facing more intense persecution than the family. Between divorce, infidelity and abuse on the rise our families face crisis situations almost daily.

My hope is no matter what your religious or your political beliefs is that you will pray today for our Nation, Our County. This place that we live freely. For those who fight daily for our freedoms, on hostile soil so we as a Nation do not have to see war on our own streets. For the families they leave behind, and for the the future that we are building for the children.

God Bless~
