We have lost yet another brave soldier...

Message from Major General Terry Nesbitt
The Adjutant General, Georgia National Guard

It is with the deepest regret that I announce the death of CPL Raymundo Porras Morales who died July 21, 2009, from injuries sustained in a vehicle roll-over incident near Methar Lam, Afghanistan.

Morales, 34, of Dalton, was a member of Cedartown's Company D, 148th Brigade Support Battalion. He is survived by his wife and two children and his parents.

CPL Morales' death underscores the inherent dangers faced by each of our Soldiers in every mission they perform in support of training the Afghan security and police forces.

Our thoughts and prayers are extended to CPL Morales' family at this very difficult time.

Note: United States flags on GA DoD facilities will be flown at half-mast upon return to US soil of CPL Morales' remains, and will remain at half-mast until sunset of the day of his final interment.
