Please Pray for the Family......

SGT French was one of hubby's soliders in the 2005/2006 Iraq deployement. Hubby said you never saw Alex without a smile on his face! He was always happy.... and he was a GREAT soldier.....

According to the Department of Defense, French, 31, of Milledgeville, died Sept. 30 in Kwhost, Afghanistan of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device.

The body of a 48th Brigade who died in Afghanistan has returned to Central Georgia.

A plane carrying the body of Alex French touched down at Lowe Aviation at Middle Georgia Regional Airport around 11:30 a.m. Around 1:40 p.m., it arrived at Slater's Funeral Home, located at 244 North Wayne Street in Milledgeville.

Friends and family gathered at the airport to welcome French home. An honor unit also paid tribute there.

"He loved the military, he loved his family and he died doing what he loved to do," said Anthony Rawls, French's uncle.

In Milledgeville, hundreds of people lined the streets to pay welcome French home. About 500 of them were Georgia Military College students in uniform; others were people who said they didn't know French but wanted to pay their respects.

"I plan to be there someday too and to me it's the least that we can to honor him," said Kipp Goss, Georgia Military College student.

"Anytime we have someone serving our country, fighting for us, we should show respect to them and honor them," said Olive Shinholster, Milledgeville.

Flags in downtown Milledgeville flew at half-staff. French will be buried Saturday. He will be buried at Scenic Cemetery off Highway 49 in Milledgeville.

He died last Wednesday when his convoy was hit by a improvised explosive in a suicide attack.
French, 31 years-old, was also a father of three and a Bibb County deputy.
Until Next Time.
