HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!!!

Wow... here it is... Veterans Day! A day where we have the chance to take time out to thank those who have served, who are serving and who will continue to serve so that we may enjoy the life and the freedom we have today. Today is a bitter sweet day for me. While I think there is nothing more important than taking the time to actually thank the people who allow me to live the life of freedom that I do. It is a day that makes me miss my husband even more!

But to celebrate today there are a couple of things I want to share with you...

First up - This whole week I have issued a plea to take the "Thank a Veteran" challenge. In this challenge I have asked that you find a Veteran, a service member who has served or who is serving and find a way to honor them. A way to thank them! I am hoping above all hope that you have done so!!! And not only that you have done so but my BIGGEST hope is that you will encourage others to do the same!

So to help you do so - I am offering a FREEBIE on my blog today... but here's the catch. If you download the freebie I would love it if you would post this website either on your blog, your own personal website or on a forum that allows you to post freebies. Tell everyone that there is a FREEBIE here at Beloved Keepsakes for today and today only - and ask them to take the "Thank a Vet" challenge while they are here downloading it! (For more information about the "Thank a Veteran" challenge you can click HERE to see Sunday's post!)

Then if you have followed through with Thanking a Veteran - I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for you to post a comment here on my blog how you met that challenge. It could be anything from you went up to your Grandfather and thanked him for his service in WW2 - to you went to the Veterans Day Parade and you shook as many Vet's hands as you could and you told them very sincerely "Thank You!".....

I would be ABSOLUTELY THRILLED, no BLOWN AWAY if I can get 50 comments of how YOU thanked a Service Member today!!!!

Additionally, as a thank you, all my military designs are 35% off today at VDBC! I have 25 designs that are dedicated to the different branches of the military! If you haven't ever seen them before I encourage you to go take a gander at them!!!

And lastly I want to share a tribute with you that I made for my own husband and shipped to him in Afghanistan to be opened and viewed on this special day!

But before I get to that - Here is today's FREEBIE!!!

Same rules as always apply: This design is covered by my TOU (terms of use). If you do not have a copy of these TOU please make sure you download it HERE before downloading the freebies!

This design is only available for a short period of time (24 hours) - once it is no longer available here it will be available in my section of the VDBC Store for purchase!

Please do not share this file. If you know someone who might like to have it, then send them HERE to get it!! (Thanks sooo much!)

Sorry this file is no longer available for free download.

I think this design would be PERFECT to document what YOU did today to THANK A VETERAN!!!

Now before I go, here is a very very very special tribute to my own dearly beloved husband who is currently serving somewhere in Afghanistan. All the photos in this slide show are of my husband an span a time period of the 20 years he has served in our military. From Mogadishu, Somalia, Iraq to Afghanistan - I can not tell you how incredible proud I am of my husband.

Happy Veterans Day Major Andrew Bruce McDonald! I love you and I am so proud of the man you are and your wiliness to keep me and the American people safe and free.

Thanks for stopping by - now get out there, spread the word and ABOVE ALL ELSE no matter what your opinions are on the war or what your thoughts are about the President - THANK A VETERAN TODAY!!! One small act of gratitude from you will provide a lifetime of encouragement for them!

Until Next Time!

Cya~

I had the privilege to thank two Vietnam War Vets yesterday where I work. They came in, wearing their "Vietnam War Veteran" hats and I took the opportunity to thank them for what they did for our country. They both were very touched and sincerely appreciated the gratitude.

Lori, I KNOW how near and dear this day is to you but rest assured that it's near and dear to a lot more people than you realize. These men and women of our military have given up everything so we can be free. I love them and thank them every chance I get....not only TODAY but EVERY day.

Love your four videos/slideshows you've posted this week. They made me smile, cry and swell with pride!

THANK YOU, dear lady!

I have lots of veterans in my life, but very limited to many physically close to me. My big chance today is to take the boss to lunch. Already have the work covered, he dosn't have an excuse. I am looking forward to it. The rest I will have to make do with e-mails. Happy Veterans Day!

Lori, I would like to thank your husband for his service to our country and you, and his family for the sacrifices I know it takes. Our country has so many wonderful men and women, and unfortunately, I don't believe they are appreciated enough..especially in these times. Please let him know that he is our hero and we appreciate all he does for us and the good ole USA!

Today, I thanked all my family members who have been in the service, for protecting our great nation and being heroes. I also checked in on a PGR friend who recently lost her dad, a World War II veteran and emailed a work friend, who's husband is a Vietnam Vet, losing his battle with cancer. Not much in the scheme of things...but I think it made their Veteran's Day a little more special. Thank you for encouraging us to do the right thing and focus on our military...past and present!

Thanks for the file.
I thanked my husband for what he did in the military, he had 40 years in the Wi. National Guard when he retired.
Also thanked our best friend who had served in Vietnam in the Special Forces.

Lori,
Please thank your husband and his unit for my family for his service to protect our freedom. Thanks to you also for your sacrifice here at home. I will be calling my grandfather later today to thank him for his service in WWII. I took him and my daughters to the opening of the WWII monument several years ago and a lot of people came up to him and told him thank you for his service and he didn't understand why so many were thanking him. He felt he did what was expected of him at that time and really didn't understand how strangers could be grateful to him. It was an amazing experience.

What a wonderful photo tribute! I know you must be very proud of him. I hope he stays safe! My hubby may be going over there for a civilian job after the new year. He was in the Marines, but now he's in the Guard.

Thank you Lori, beautiful file. I sent my brother an ecard thanking him and telling him how very proud I was that he sacrificed and served for 24 yrs. And even though he's retired he's still putting forth his efforts as he is working on base, Ft Campbell, Ky. Whooaa! Sgt. Jeffery Marshall!

Thank you for the wonderful inspiration for Veteran's Day and the great file! I let my Dad know how much we appreciated his efforts during WWII. I also posted a link to your blog on my new blog (http://compdesignz.blogspot.com)- I'm afraid I don't have any followers yet, but hope someone sees it!

Lori,
On monday my youngest daughter's elementary school had a program to honor those who have served our country and so my inlaws were able to travel up here to attend this with her. My FIL served in the Vietnam War, but doesn't talk about it much. So I am going to try and get all the info I can and scrapbook anything that he has from this time for his christmas next year.

Then today I was able to go with my husband (who is the director of an assisted living center) and 2 of his residents to the 1st Annual Veterans Day Memorial Ceremony. It was a really neat thing and I learned a lot. I got some great photos that I am going to scrap and use your freebie with. Recently a local family designed and spearheaded the building of a beautiful memorial wall at our local park. It has been built with a placque for every person who has served in any branch of the military. There are several walls and each are dedicated to different wars and for those that lost their lives as well as those that returned home safely. They even let our high school students out to attend this event which I thought was really cool. They had a "Fly-Over Tribute" by a couple of planes that flew overhead -- my 2 little kids loved that as well as the cannon salute. The HS band played the service hymns from each military division as well, which was neat. Following the ceremony I stopped by my husband's work and thanked one of the residents who is an Army vet. Today he was on cloud 9 because as he was leaving the restaurant following lunch with some friend he had 3 other people stop and thank him (he was wearing an army hat) for his service.

This has spurred me into deciding to make 2 scrapbooks for gifts next christmas one for my inlaws and one for my BIL who is currently serving in the Air Force. So I bet you can guess what I will be spending my money on after Christmas this year...your military cutter files. Thanks also to your husband for serving our country so faithfully and also to you for allowing him too. Have a wonderful day! Hailey

Thank you to you and your husband Lori for the sacrifices you both make every day! Thank you Lori for pushing us to do the right thing. We have a friend that was in Afghanistan for most of desert storm and has been to Iraq twice. He never wants to talk much about what he saw over there and we know that he struggles with it. We called him yesterday to thank him and he was so touched he nearly cried.

Thank you! My husband is also a Veteran. I wrote a little tribute to him and how he's made me a better person by being a Veteran on my Facebook page yesterday. He was out of town, so I didn't get a pic of him, but will when his Legion Club has their dinner on Friday. This svg cut will be perfect for the scrapbook page. Thank you!!!

On Tuesday I took my dad (a WW2 vet) to a Veteran's ceremony at Boeing, the company here in St. Louis where my husband works. My husband, also a vet, played in the Boeing band at the ceremony. It was so moving to see the many Korean War and WW2 vets that came, in spite of a cold, brisk wind. The ceremony gave opportunity to thank many Veterans and to see them honored. Now my AF son is deploying on Sunday (11/15) for Afghanistan. Thank you, again, for reminding us to be grateful.
