As I was telling you yesterday, my awesome, amazing and super talented design team member (Bec) has a son getting married TOMORROW! So she asked me a few months back if I would I would design a file for the invitations. Her only direction was that they want to use the letter "H" since that was going to be the first letter of their last name! So I came up with several rough drafts and the final design was this!!!

I ask that you please pray for our Troop's in Afghanistan! This is the eve of a very dangerous time for our service members. At 10:30 PM Eastern Standard Time tonight - the elections begin in Afghanistan.

This was part of today's headline news:

KABUL – The U.S. military said Wednesday six American troops were killed in Afghanistan, as militants killed six election workers amid growing fears on the eve of the presidential election that insurgents would mar the vote.

Two troops were killed in gunfire in the south on Wednesday, the U.S. military said, while a third was killed in an unspecified hostile attack. The U.S. also said a roadside bomb Tuesday in the south killed two troops, while another died of noncombat-related injuries. No other details were released.

The deaths bring to at least 32 the number of American troops killed in the country this month, a record pace. Forty-four U.S. troops died in Afghanistan last month, the deadliest month of the eight-year war.

The Interior Ministry says about a third of Afghanistan is at high-risk of militant attack, and that no polling stations will open in eight Afghan districts under control of militants.

The latest attacks were an ominous sign that the Taliban and their militant allies are determined to disrupt Thursday's election.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday that the rise in insurgent violence in Afghanistan reflected a deliberate campaign to intimidate voters. A shopkeeper near Wednesday's gunfire attack in Kabul, Abdul Jalal, said that if violence persisted into Thursday, he and his wife would not vote.

"Tomorrow we plan to go the polling center," said Jalal. "But if it was like today, we will not vote. Elections are a good thing for Afghanistan, but security is more important."
Attacks nationwide have increased in recent days from a daily average of about 32 to 48, said Brig. Gen. E. Tremblay, the spokesman for the NATO-led force.

So as you can see this is the start of a scary time for our service members and their families who are waiting anxiously at home....

What a day...

So I started my day out with taking my husband's killer of a dog (yeah isn't a Shitz Tzu a super manly dog?!?!) to the emergency vet!! Man - wasn't expecting that today! But all in all everything is fine. Our vet took us right in and made everything well! (He thinks it was a bug bite or a pulled/twisted muscle - sheesh!!!)

But it was just last night that I had put together two short video's for hubby (Which of course he can't watch as " the military server Nazis" deleted the movies from his email!) Go Figure!!!

Now please understand I am a movie maker novice and this is my first two attempts at making movies period!! But all in all I thought they were pretty funny!!! Hope you enjoy!

Catching up.....

So yesterday was hubby's birthday! I so hate birthday's that are spent sooo far apart! But I have to tell you we have such a wonderful command unit!! I got this email yesterday from my hubby -

Hi baby. Well I got a huge surprise, LTC Simmons and MAJ Mike Maddox my battle buddy, lured me in with a staff meeting at 1200hrs. So I am getting all ready for it, loading slides up etc, I noticed that there were a lot of people in the room who normally did not attend meetings, didn't even register why in my head. And then suddenly there erupted a very loud Happy Birthday song. I about fell out of my chair.

I was served a very yummy cake from the Dining facility staff. I was quite in shock and speechless for a second.

Thank you again to such awesome leadership! I am so glad that if I couldn't spend the day with my hubby that your guys took care of him!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUBBY!!!

In addition to it being my hubby's birthday this past weekend I also spent a weekend in HOT LANTA with my very best friend! We had a "FRG" (family readiness group) conference where we learned about a ton of resources both new and old for military families!

Additionally they had an awards banquet where my BFF won a HUGE award! YOU ROCK TRACY!!!

Before leaving, we made sure to get a photo of us together:

I then sent this photo to my husband who hasn't seen a photo or me since April - he was shocked by how much weight I had lost! I am like, "How can you tell, it is only from my breast up!" To which he replied, "I can see it in your face!" BAHAHAHA!!!
