I have to say it is nice to be home... but I do wish we could have stayed in Puerto Rico just a little longer!!! It was an awesome awesome trip! If you EVER get to go to Puerto Rico - GO!!!! The people were friendly, you could always find someone who spoke English - or Spanglish as the case tended to be! The food was YUMMY! (And you know what a picky eater I am!!!) Oh and the views - the sights - OH MY!!!!!
So I know that some of you are just dying to see the sights (right Bec!!!!) So I though I would share a few of my photos and take you on a very mini tour of Puerto Rico!
First up - this was the view off my hotel balcony! We were on the 11th floor "ocean side" at the "Intercontinental San Juan" hotel.
Here is a photo of Hubby and I on the last day. We had spent the morning playing in the surf below!
While hubby was in meetings on the second day there - I had the chance to go to Old San Juan which is the historical and shopping district. I heard they had a "Coach" outlet store that sold everything at 60% off! I am proud to say - I walked right past it - didn't even go in!!! LOL
This photo is the San Juan Gate to the city. It was built in like 1745 or something crazy like that!! This is where the visitors to the island would come in.
And this is a section of the wall that was built around the island to keep people out. The only entrance was at the gate!
And then here is a photo of the Fort. I didn't actually go all the to the Fort and explore - but I heard it was pretty amazing!
I have a ton of other photos of the city - we went to the 1st Catholic church - which was really neat, we saw the convent (that is now a hotel), we saw the governor's home as well!
But I have to say one of the coolest things that I did while I was in Old San Juan was that I got to tour one of the actual homes in the city! While hubby was in meetings and such I hung out with the COL's wife. And while we were touring the city we noticed that all the houses had these huge open windows and doors - it was really cool and being the tourist that we were... we wanted to see what they looked like inside!
So we came across this one house that was being remodeled and my friend asked the workers could we come in and look - and he was like "Si, Si!" So in we went!!! Oh my goodness! Who ever was remodeling this house was sinking a TON of money!!! It was simple amazing!! Three stories, four balconies, a private courtyard - and a Bidet!!!!!!
On Thursday - hubby was done with meetings by 11 AM!!! (Thank you boss!!!) And we were able to spend the rest of the day doing what ever we wanted! So we rented a car and we went to the "El Yunque Rain Forest". It was amazing!!!
I have to say I got tickled - as we drove up - you entered through "El Portal" or the Gate! LOL
Here is a photo of the foliage of the rain forest! Pretty cool huh?!?!?
In the Rain Forest there were several Waterfalls. This one was called "Cascada La Coca" or "La Coca Falls". The cool thing about this National Park was that unlike in the US - you can actually climb the falls, get in the water, scale the rocks - whatever!!!! So if you look on the left hand side of this photo you will see me standing on the rocks right next to the fall!!
I am sure you are about tired of my photos by now - so I will leave you with this last one....this is a photo of hubby and I at the top of the "Yokahu Tower". This tower was a 69 ft high tower (trust me - my legs knew it was that high) that overlooked the rain forest on the NE side of the island - and you could actually see all the way to the Atlantic Ocean!
As you can see - it is pretty amazing there! All in all I have to say I feel soooo blessed that I was able to go to Puerto Rico and see the sights! Hubby loved it there as well and as a matter of fact we are talking about going back one day for a real vacation!!!
So there you have it!
Until Next Time!
Cya~
