Rainy dreary Saturday...

Got up this morning and it has been raining most of the night into today- and while we really really really need the rain, it is still yucky and dreary. Doesn't do much to lift the spirits or improve a mood!!!

Let me tell you it can be sooooo annoying to try and talk to you hubby who is 60,000 miles away on a phone with a delay! You are trying to talk and the other person is talking over you and grrrrrrrrr it just isn't good. As a matter of fact it is down right frustrating!!!! Not a good way to start a day that is for sure!!!!

Hmmmm, as you can see I am in one of those moods today! So for all you folks that thought I was always happy go lucky all the time - well as you can see - I'm not!!!! LOL

On that note - I bet most people are out and about on this holiday weekend. Not that it is a holiday for me... just another day in my life... but for those of you that are still hanging around I thought I would share with you a Terms Restricted File (TRF) for download. Please make sure that you read my terms of use (over on the left hand side there).... for if you download this file you are agreeing to them. As a matter of fact - these downloads are password protected and the password is: IAGREETOTOU

This file is for personal use only! Do not share it. Do not alter it and call it your own. You know the drill....Yada, yada, yada!!!

This is a file a created back before becoming a designer - my husband and I tease each other with this phrase a lot... and today it seems appropriate to the mood I am having!!! Bahahaha!!!!

So here is it - today's "TRF":

You can download it in the following formats:

This file is no longer available here....

Will be available for purchase soon at Paperthreads!

Hope you enjoy the file.... and that you have a great weekend!

Until Next Time!

What I learned today...

So do you ever ask your child when they get home from school, "What did you learn today?" Or if you are like me and you don't have children... Did your mom ask you that same question when you got home from school? Well I want to share with you all what I learned today!

I learned.......

That Chris Durnan can't keep a secret!!!! Yep, don't be trusting her with too much information - cause she will spill the beans!!!! She outed one of my announcements on her blog before I even had a chance to tell anyone myself! Shesshhhh!!!!

Thus - if you didn't already know - Chris and I will be having a one day sale at Paperthreads on Monday, Sept 3rd!!!!! For one day and one day only both her files and mine will be on sale for 30% off!!!

What a better way to celebrate the Labor day holiday than with a sale!!! I don't think I have actually had a sale since July - so if there are a few files you have been wanting - Monday is the day to pick them up!!!

So make sure you head on over to Paperthreads on Monday and pick up any or all of my files and Chris's files for 30% off!!!

Now for today's show and tell - In an effort to redo my living room, I purchased some slipcovers for my furniture. With the green accent wall, my blue and mauve sofa and chairs just didn't cut it anymore.

I looked for new furniture and just didn't find anything I liked that didn't cost an arm and a leg. And even the stuff that was really expensive isn't made as well as the furniture I already have.... so I figured I would give the slipcovers a try (oh and I had a 25% off coupon!!!).

So here was my furniture before:

And here it is after:

I have to say the green wall has grown on me and I actually like having a little color in my life!!!

Hope you all have a great holiday weekend! I shall be here slaving away to get caught up on all the stuff I DIDN'T get done last week!

Until next time!

PS - for the record Chris and I have been very good friends for like.... wow it seems like forever - but it was actually a few months before I became a designer for Paperthreads!! As a matter of fact - if she and Shirley (another designer at Paperthreads) had not been sooo adamant I would have never tried out to be a designer!!! So please don't send me any ugly emails asking my why I am dissing Chris.... because if you do.... I will just have to reply "Cause she deserves it!!!" Bahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

There's no place like home, there's no place like home...

Well good morning! I totally feel like I am Dorothy returning from the Land of Oz. But I am home at last (no red shoes to get me here, but my silver sports car did the trick!).

First let me say thank you soooooo very much for all your prayers, well wishes and concern for my friend, her son and her family. I personally believe in the power of prayer... and it was totally felt! So I just can not thank you all enough.

What you all want to know I am sure - Nick is doing well!!! As I told you before he had Neuro Surgery on Sunday about 4 pm... they had to replace the shunt that was installed when he was 5 months old. Surgery went well - but then on Monday night we had a scare as his temp spiked up to 102.6. My friend left me at her house with the baby and her other son about midnight and headed up to the hospital. (Yep this was the first time I had had the baby through the night and the first time I had to get the 8 year old up and ready and to school on time!)

They were finally able to get his temp under control and all seems well. So well in fact he came home yesterday!!! He was having some mild headaches and he will not be able to go to school for about a week at least - but so far everything seems well!!!

I tell you - to see him running around and to talk to him yesterday - without the visual reminders, like the stitches in his head, you would never realize the boy had BRAIN surgery four days ago!!

My friend's mother flew in yesterday as well to help out - so I took that as my cue to get the heck out of the way!!! And home I came! But man I am BEAT!!!!!

For the person who up until two weeks ago had NEVER changed a diaper or made a bottle, I totally took responsibility of the baby for the past few days.... and let me tell you (as I am sure you all probably know) - but that is WORK!!!!

I just don't think I have the mothering gene!!!! LOL Don't get me wrong I love those kids! And I finally got over the "being scared, I am going to break her, oh I can't let her cry"... and I got it done! But for someone who has never had a child, never had brothers or sisters and who has never been around babies period - well, it was a little overwhelming.

But I got through it - and I know now - I can do it!!!! (Don't want to, but can!!!) LOL

I have to confess that I did tell hubby that when he comes home - there will be every kind of "protection" that can be used in place cause I don't think I want a baby!!! Bahahahaha!!!!

So thanks again.... thank you for your well wishs, prayers and concerns. Please give me a few days to catch up and catch my breath and hopefully I will be able to get back on track soon. I owe you my readers a "TRF" download and I plan to get that out really soon!!!

I also have a few announcements and a few other things to share in the next few days!!!

Before I go here is a photo that I took of Nick and his little sister just a week before the whole brain surgery scare! Thought you might like to see the person you have been praying for!

Until next time!

Update...

Well I am still in FL - my friend's son ended up having Neuro surgery on Sunday afternoon - about 4 PM. It seems he had a shunt put in when he was 5 months old. He is now 11 and there have never been any reconstruction to it. It seems it had a failing valve.

They were worried that the brain matter may have grown around the shunt in his head and they were positive that the lines down had calcium build up.....

Anyway - the good news is that they were able to remove all of the pieces from his head - and then they were able to get most of the lines out - but not all. Everything went well and they moved him out of ICU today and up to the Ped's ward....

The concern now is that he started running a fever this afternoon. So please keep Nick and his family in your prayers.

Meanwhile - I am getting a crash course in baby care.... yeah, well - let's just say that I informed my hubby that when he gets back from Iraq - well will be using every kind of protection that we can!!! LOL

Don't get my wrong - she is so cute and a lot of fun most of the time - but this is WORK!!! And I just don't think it is my calling!!!!

Not sure when I will be heading home... will try to keep you posted as I can! Thanks for all your prayer to this point.....

God Bless~

Prayer request and an update....

Well it is 12:07 AM - and I am home from my trip - yep - a lot earlier than I should have been....

My best friend (the one who I baby sat for last week) called me while I was gone today to let me know they had to take their oldest son (he is 11) to the ER... at the ER they transported him via the Ambulance to the Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, FL - where they have admitted him to the ICU...... So without a second thought I cut my trip short and headed home.

Looks like brain surgery is looming (something about a failing shunt? Or stint?) and maybe something more?!?!?! I am not real sure..... So please I ask that you keep this family in your prayers.....

Meanwhile I am heading to bed then getting up in a few hours and heading down there to see what I can do to help out! Between the new baby and the other son who is 8, they really have their hands full. Not sure what I can do to help - but I will be there no matter what!

Having said that - It might be a few days before I get to post again, I will probably not get the "TRF" file up for download until I get back... for that I am sorry.

Not sure when I'll cya ~but hopefully it will be soon!

God Bless~
Lori
